Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
An important representative commented the incident made him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
